6th GRADUATION DAY

The Sixth Graduation Day ceremony of CSI Bishop Newbigin College of Education was held on Saturday, 13th August 2016 at CSI St. Ebba’s School Auditorium. Graduation Day Ceremony was presided over by our beloved Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. J. George Stephen. The Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Dr S. Thangasamy was the chief guest. The Secretary of the College Prof. Dr. J. Samuel Cornelius declared open the Graduation day ceremony. The Principal Dr. V. Regina welcomed the gathering and presented annual report of the college by bringing out the events of the academic year 2015-2016. The Principal emphasized that all the activities were striving towards excellence.



Our beloved Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. J. George Stephen in his presidential address focussed on the upliftment of the oppressed society and stressed that the graduating teacher student to update their knowledge in order to compete in the competitive world. He stressed the need to provide knowledge based teaching to school students. The Vice Chancellor Dr. S. Thangasamy delivered the graduation day address. He advised that the students should have thirst of reading books and acquire knowledge. He also suggested to use modern methodology in teaching. Teaching and learning process must be life oriented and value based. Every individual should fulfill three dreams, namely,

  • Dreams of the Individual,
  • Dreams of the Parents, and
  • Dreams of the Society.

Twenty Gold medals were awarded to the best students in the name of Missionaries – former Bishops, and educationists of the Diocese of Madras. The other events that took place on the happiest occasion were:

  • 95 Students were conferred with B.Ed. degree.
  • The Portrait of the former Bishop in Madras and the legend in the theological world Rt. Rev. Dr. Lesslie Newbigin was unveiled by our Bishop.
  • In order to help people to understand more about Bishop Lesslie Newbigin and to do research on him, and on his work, a Research Centre namely, “Bishop Lesslie Newbigin Research Centre” was inaugurated by our Bishop.
  • Three playgrounds courts for Shuttle, Volley ball and Kho-Kho were opened by our Bishop.

The College is proud to send forth the new graduates into the wider arena of the world to educate the society for fuller life.
